hi, friends!

happy march! (um, what?). i’ve officially begun to transition to spring (at least in my head), and that’s what inspired this week’s girly-meets-tomboy look.

i fell in love with this parker top and stalked it ’til it went on sale, and i knew right away i wanted to wear it with my one teaspoon boyfriend jeans. it’s so pretty and feminine, it’s the perfect “opposites-attract” match for these distressed blues. i love adding that cowboy edge, so i threw in my favorite boots and this adorable (and reasonably priced) fringe free people bag. y’all know i love those tomboy vibes lately, but every so often i want to dress up or wear something more feminine while still feeling casual.

style tip

a bell-sleeve top is a must-have for spring. it’s feminine, a little sexy, and looks very current with the 1970’s vibes, but it doesn’t have to be overly bohemian. i’ve worn this top to work with simple black pants and ballet flats, and was perfectly polished but still felt like myself. sometimes decades-inspired or other “themed” pieces that have a distinct vibe can feel off-limits because you may be afraid you’ll feel like you’re wearing a costume. be careful not to pigeonhole items as only one style or functionality. with a little bit of creativity, and careful pairing with more basic or modern items, you can easily make an item like this feel contemporary and not like you’re trying to dress like penny lane (although…that’s not a bad thing!).
