hi, friends!
well, it’s almost august and summer is in full swing in nashville. it’s hot and humid and the bugs are bad, but it’s also my birth month so i’m pretty excited about what’s coming up during the time of the leo.
anywho, i know you all probably tire of seeing these pesky patterned flare pants, but i don’t really get tired of wearing them so sorry i’m not actually sorry. i’d been crushing on this particular print for a while when i stumbled across them in a local boutique. i sort of couldn’t leave without them after seeing them in person, so here they are!
i styled them in a way that’s really more appropriate for a fall transition, so here’s some inspiration for when the temps begin to drop (in a month, if we’re lucky…). this sweater is open-knit with exposed shoulders so it’s cozy and has a bit of femininity for days when you want to be comfortable but not to feel too frumpy. looks cute with cutoffs for a casual summer night!
hat – free people; sweater – free people; flares – novella royale ; necklace – found wanderer
i think part of the appeal of these pants is that the patterns are very eye-catching and make a statement, but they are literally the exact same fabrication as a pair of leggings. so while they are fun to wear because people compliment you left and right, they are also wildly comfortable. there’s something about flares that make you feel like a million bucks because you feel very tall (for me, this is due to the fact that i have to wear my absolute tallest heels so the hems don’t drag the ground) and glamorous, plus you don’t look like everybody else.
another reason to try a pair of flared pants (even if they’re simple black!) is because it’s really fun to play with proportion. wearing them high-waisted and with something more fitted on top to show off your curves is a little bombshell and suitable for a night out with your friends; while dressing them down for day with something drapey on top like i did makes them casual but still fashion-forward. it’s also just a matter of preference!
