spring blush

hi, friends!

hope y’all have had a wonderful week.  nashville’s weather has been even more spring-like over the past week, and it’s starting to look like maybe we are going to get our spring early this year.  i expect we’ll have at least one more cold snap before the warm temperatures are here to stay, so i’m not packing up my sweaters just yet.  however, it is a nice chance to start to break out your spring wardrobe and seek out any key pieces you’d like to get for the season.  for me it’s always hard to be motivated to buy clothes that i’m not able to wear right away, so that is the bright side to the early transition.  i actually enjoy cooler weather, but to me the perfect temperature is about 65 degrees (and sunny!) and that’s right about where we’ve been hovering.

everyone knows spring is a season for soft colors and fabrics and romantic silhouettes.  although i don’t seem to dress as girly as i used to, one of my favorite spring pieces is a feminine boho blouse like this little number by knot sisters.  i love the dusty blush color as it goes well with warm and light neutrals like ivory or tan, but it also pairs great with gray and black if you tend to like cooler neutrals.  i really like wearing both, so that makes something like this even more versatile in my wardrobe.  sometimes items that are feminine skew towards being overly sweet, which is something i tend to stay away from; i feel like i look too young to wear anything with bows, ruffles or ditsy florals, because i don’t want to look like a little girl.  this piece has a great balance of feminine details and blousy fabrication without going into sugary territory.  i think this top would also look pretty styled with a suede skirt or white denim as we get further into spring.

i don’t tend to like to show a lot of cleavage, so i styled this top with a lacey halter bralette from free people; however, on someone taller, i think the neckline of this top would be just as flattering without that added layer.  i will admit, though, i like the play of texture and color that the graphite lace gives to the look.
