outfit of the day, style challenge

let go

hi, friends!

happy friday!  hope y’all have had a great week.  summer is around the corner; i can’t believe it.  this week has been beautiful spring weather in nashville and after last week’s excessive rain, i’m starting to look forward to a bit warmer weather (although, not too warm!).  today’s post is a little different from anything you’ve seen on the blog, but it’s still totally me.  in my daily life, my style is super casual and i usually am not overly accessorized (primarily because i’m running late).  i wanted to show you all an easy, yet stylist outfit that’s perfect for your days off and for casual activities with your friends.  sneakers are extremely on trend and practical, so i think everyone should capitalize on that while it’s hot.  this is a really easy way to wear sneakers while still feeling feminine, but you could also make it decidedly more tomboy if that’s the way your style leans.

now’s the perfect time to bring a new pair of sneaks into your casual wardrobe.  converse are a classic, affordable, and therefore a must-have, and you can style them with everything.  i wear mine with skinny jeans, cutoff shorts, and dresses.  i chose these new balances because i wanted a more feminine but still neutral color combination beyond my white converse.  i love the grey/blue with the pop of pink…i mean, these are pretty irresistible, right?  try your sneakers with your favorite skinny ankle jean (showing a bit of ankle is important – it’s more flattering and more feminine) and a casual top for your next boozy brunch or daytime beer-sipping on a patio.

style tip
one styling trick i think many people are unsure of is the proper way to roll a sleeve. the trick is not to roll it at the cuff and continue like you do a pant, but to fold the cuff over and pull up so the cuff is at the elbow with a length of sleeve below it. then you roll the excess sleeve up and tuck the cuff into it so it’s snug. this stays much more securely throughout the day, and also highlights any kind of cuff detail like you see on this shirt!
