outfit of the day, style tips

bohemian holiday | part one

hi, friends!

with thanksgiving next week, it’s pretty much inevitable…the holiday season is upon us. many of you will have parties and family gatherings, and you’ll certainly want to look polished for a variety of occasions. for me, bohemian holiday style is very inspiring because it’s always fun to get dressed up, and it’s going to stand out. anything bohemian usually relies on subtle embellishments and unusual details, so the holidays is truly its time to shine (no pun intended). taking into account these principles will make you stand out at family or friendly gatherings.

this outfit is more appropriate for a “friendsgiving” party or other more casual event where you still want to look elevated but not overly festive. a pretty dress in a seasonal color feels fancy but you can easily take it down a notch with cozy accessories like socks under boots or a sweater. there aren’t any steadfast rules, but i do think it’s best to save your red ensemble for a christmas gathering, and sparkly things for new year’s eve (although a sprinkling of things that glitter is always appropriate if the occasion calls for it).

style tips

try styling a pretty printed chiffon dress with tights and over-the-knee boots for a modern twist on the bohemian trend.  go for a sleeker pair of boots — i find that suede always looks more luxe than leather — for a more classic look than my lace-up version.

y’all know i loved the cactus detail on this dress and the pretty fluttery sleeve.  that’s what makes it an unexpected choice for holiday!
