outfit inspiration, outfit of the day, style tips

90’s baby

hi, friends!

the first part of this year is going by so quickly, it’s hard to believe.  we’re getting closer to spring and nashville’s weather has been quite a tease lately.  we’ll get a few really nice days in the high sixties, and then the temps will drop back down and it will snow.  mother nature can be fickle!  in any case, the balmier temps have me a little more excited for spring than i’d normally be at this time of year, and this look is a bit inspired by those transitional days where it might be a bit deceptive and the temperature may change throughout the day.

this time around i got to work with a new photographer, mrs. amber ulmer!  i’ve followed her for a long time on social media, and we were finally able to get time together to shoot.  she has an incredibly warm energy and i felt instantly at ease with her, so i hope y’all enjoy the photos.  i hope to work more with her in the future, so stay tuned.

style tips

lately i’ve been really feeling the whole 90’s revival thing, especially in my accessories and beauty.  i love that earthy brown lipstick that was so ubiquitous back then, and i’ve definitely been into the layered choker necklaces.  i think the 90’s look pairs really well with more boho style, as it can make it more tomboy and edgy.  boho tends to be pretty feminine, but i like a little bit of masculine edge every once in a while.  it’s not for everyone, but for right now i’m enjoying experimenting with it as it relates to my more “modern-minimal-bohemian” sense of personal style.  the whole shirt-tied-around-the-waist is a definite nod to tomboy 90’s style, but it’s also practical.  your favorite flannel can function as an accessory in this capacity, but if the weather changes and you want one more layer, you can throw it on and you’re good to go.

if y’all live in nashville, you’ve probably heard of judith bright.  my friend mollie {aka the bad kitty!} works for JB and got me this beautiful sandalwood bead bracelet as a gift.  it’s my first piece from the line, but i’m totally in love.  the jewelry is all handmade in nashville by a team of talented women, and it’s just an incredible brand.  i’m hoping to add to my stack because now i’m hooked!  this is not a paid promotion, i just genuinely adore the jewelry and think everyone should check them out!
