hi, friends!
can’t believe it’s already july. july 4th is a big deal in nashville and i’ll be very busy working today and tomorrow downtown. however, after this marks the end of my busiest time at work and things slow down for the rest of summer. i’m looking forward to some down time and some weddings, as well as my birthday next month!
this look was inspired by the tee i’m wearing (how irresistible is the graphic print!?) and my cool new vintage leather bag. i was on the hunt for a casual leather cross body, and had my eye on an option from madewell. a few weeks ago i was perusing etsy for home decor and stumbled across this beauty! i love western leather and tooling and this bag was a great price. it was a no-brainer! i’m not the biggest vintage shopper, but vintage is so fun because you know no one else will have that piece and you’re bringing something into your life that already has a story. it’s a fun way to add eccentricities and personality to your style and is generally really economical; it’s also the hunt that makes everything fun.
sunglasses – ray-ban; tee – shop sincerely jules via council nashville; necklace – consider the wldflwrs; kimono – free people {old, similar here}; belt – j.crew; shorts – one teaspoon; bag, rings, cuff – vintage

i wanted to build a cute, casual outfit suitable for basically any summer activity from a night out, to a music festival, to a day at the flea market! it’s comfy and easy and i’m sure you have a similar assembly of items in your wardrobe.
style tip
these shorts are pretty short, so the kimono serves a purpose besides being pretty. for me, the longer hem and flowing silhouette balances and tones down the short shorts. a lightweight plaid shirt could be a perfect substitute, and would look even cuter tied around your waist. ultimately, though, when it’s really hot outside, you gotta do what you gotta do to stay comfortable.

how sweet are these tiny cacti studs? since the cactus has become a kind of pseudo-logo for the blog, i thought these were perfect!
