hi, friends!
i’m not sure how the weather has been in the areas where you are, but it’s been really warm in nashville. much to my chagrin, i have not really been able to wear sweaters or tall boots for a few weeks now, so this post may be a bit out of place, but i promise when delaney and i shot this it was very appropriate and i was actually quite comfortable. i love the fall, as you know, and this sweater really appealed to me as soon as i saw it because of its oversized shape, high cowl neck collar, and the beautiful golden rust color of the knit. i also am pretty finicky about the materials that sweaters are made of because my skin is pretty sensitive, and i will drive myself insane in a sweater that is the slightest bit itchy. this sweater is a cotton-nylon blend so it’s really comfortable and easy to wear. it comes in several pretty colors; i’d really like to get it in navy as well.
when i got the sweater i instantly knew i wanted to play with proportions a bit with it and wear it with my tall boots. the proportion of a mini-length dress and an over-the-knee boot is really interesting, and that slight bit of your leg that shows gives you some sex appeal when you’re really quite covered up. i wore this a lot lot last year with both my stuart weitzman boots and my free people lace-up boots on their own or layered with tights and socks. i threw the slip on underneath to add a bit of texture and to make the look feel more intentional — sometimes styling an outfit like this with something other than a dress can look like you just forgot to put on pants, and that’s something i’d like to avoid. try a sweater dress with your tall boots for a casual occasion like brunch or shopping, or style your over-the-knee boots up with a pretty velvet frock for a fall get-together.
if you haven’t taken on the thigh-high boot trend, now is a good time; there are a lot of options out there at a wide variety of price points. i’ve linked several of my favorite pairs below in the “shop this look” section.

this mini necklace is from a local brand called carden avenue and features tiny labradorite stones. it’s so pretty and dainty and layers well with chokers or other necklaces.
