hi, friends!
happy 2016! while i’m not the biggest proponent of new year’s resolutions, i do think reflection is important and beneficial. now is the time that we all reflect on the past year and identify ways in which we’d like to improve ourselves and our lives, so let 2016 also be the year that you make at least one style resolution to improve your style or even just to improve your wardrobe.
as you all may know, i was recently asked to participate in a post for the free people blog as a featured ‘fpme’ stylist that discussed my style resolutions for 2016. free people has a community on their website where you can share photos of yourself wearing free people items and tag them, thus making your photos visible on the items’ pages in the online store. this is so others can gain inspiration from your ideas and vice versa. i find the photos very helpful for styling inspiration as well as seeing how items look on people other than the model, and it’s fun to see different users’ styles. you can check out my fpme profile here. this was so exciting for me for obvious reasons, but i was also happy for the chance to reflect on what i wanted to do going forward. thus, this post is dedicated to me sharing that with you (and also so you can see the photos)!
style resolutions
this year i want to focus on a few key things for my style and wardrobe. my first is that i want to purge and simplify my wardrobe as i have accumulated way too much that i simply don’t wear. i want to find new homes for these items where they will be loved and enjoyed.
i also want to focus on dressing up more. i have lots of dressier items and shoes that i love don’t wear that often, and while, yes, my lifestyle is very casual, i also think i have plenty of opportunities to dress up more that i simply don’t take advantage of because i’m used to being laid-back. this year, i want to do more dressing up!
finally, i want to take more risks with my style by mixing-and-matching pieces i currently own with new pieces (whether they are actually new or new-to-me vintage items) and to continue to explore my creativity with clothes!
hat – janessa leone; dress – free people; belt – free people; socks – free people; shoes – free people; jacket – cleobella; rings – all vintage.
