hi, friends!
dang, it’s already march! y’all know what they say about this month….it comes in like a lion, and out like a lamb (or whatever). on wednesday, there was a tornado in nashville and the surrounding areas, which honestly came as no surprise considering the up-and-down weather we’ve been having. all in all, that can make getting dressed a little challenging. this is the time of year when all the really great spring product rolls out, so i think it’s time to go ahead and start transitioning your wardrobe slowly and to start buying the new pieces you want to add.
if you don’t already have a really pretty, feminine top in your arsenal, now’s the time to snag one. bell sleeves like this one make it feel feminine boho, but this trend doesn’t have to be. ruffles, bows, embroidery, tiers – they’re all making a big statement this spring. you’ll definitely see a lot of these blouses in menswear shirting fabrics – a striped poplin like you’d typically see for a men’s dress shirt, for example, might have a tiered sleeve or ruffled detailing. this is a huge trend for spring that i’ve been scouting, although i haven’t quite found the right piece yet. for me this trend has the makings of something that can get tired quickly, so i want to make sure that i’m in love with the item i ultimately choose so i get more than just one season out of it.
i’m really making a concerted effort to minimize the amount of clothes i’m buying right now. i’ve got so much and am steadily selling things or donating them, and i’m also trying to acquire a lot less. my rule is that it has to be love at first sight, and i need to be still thinking about it a week later! the shirt i’m wearing this week was one i had in my free people cart for several months. it’s classic free people but also pretty on-trend, without being too dramatically so. i styled it with some madewell flares, a really cute new bandana i got (i’m obsessed with the color; i think it looks amazing with white and blue) and a pretty hat for a laid-back yet girly outfit that i still feel like myself in!
also, i’m really excited to show y’all some pieces i was sent via shop moonstone magic! y’all know that moonstone is among my favorite stones (the others being labradorite and turquoise, duh), but did you know that moonstone is also called the traveler’s stone? it’s said to protect those who travel by the light of the moon or by water. it’s also said to have healing powers and can enhance your intuition. not to mention the fact that it’s just so pretty and feminine. i hope y’all like the beautiful photos lauren took of the pieces, and you should definitely check out their other jewelry!
