long weekend

hi, friends!

happy labor day weekend, y’all! sorry i’ve been so absent this summer; work has been the busiest it’s ever been so my spare time has been spent on other pursuits. i’ve been focused on the horses, creating healthy habits (i’ve been working out regularly!), and spending time with my friends. i hope everyone is able to enjoy their long weekend off of work; or at the very least, can spend some time with their friends and family.

obviously, the flooding in houston has been on our minds and it seems, for me at least, a strange time to be having fun or relaxing. if you have time to slow down over the long weekend, please keep these folks in your thoughts and consider making a donation if you can. i don’t want to be sanctimonious but to me it just feels so bizarre to act like nothing is wrong — and while i’m not directly affected, i have friends who are. i made donations to both the red cross and the houston spca because i wanted to help both people and animals. there’s a lot of information out there about where you can safely donate, but i preferred to make my contributions directly to organizations i trust. i can’t imagine the feelings of loss texans are experiencing right now, and the thought of something bad happening to my animals because of a natural disaster is terrifying. the only truly encouraging thing about this is how so many people are willing to help and are acting quickly to show their support in any way they can. the responses and reactions i’ve seen online are incredible and overwhelmingly positive. i have faith that the people of texas (and louisiana) can get through this. for those of us who are fine, it’s a reminder that life is fragile and that we can never be too grateful for all the good in our lives.

anyway, this week i’ve got a cute little end-of-summer boho number for y’all. i love the details of this dress and it’s currently on sale! it comes in a bunch of cute colors but for whatever reason i was really drawn to the black; i think it’s because it’s so dramatic. if i were headed to the beach or for a weekend getaway, i’d definitely bring this dress as well as my packable sun hat.
