hi, friends!
hope you all are excited for halloween weekend! i am! i love dressing in costume and tend to gravitate toward dressing as people with a distinct style or outfit and trying to wear as much as my own wardrobe as possible! i think costumes should be a chance for us to be creative (or punny!) and use our imagination. i am also looking forward to enjoying the fall weather we’ve been having in nashville and riding my horses, as always.
one of my favorite things about fall weather is layering, and sometimes layering means using clothes more like an accessory. this week’s look is heavily influenced by the 90’s with my choker, flannel, and round sunglasses, but married with a bit of my 1970’s flair with the button-front denim skirt and western boots. the 90’s are still bopping around so it’s perfectly acceptable to wear a flannel tied around your waist. you can put it on if you get cold, or you can wear it like this, where it’s mainly functioning as a “third piece” or accessory to give your outfit some interest. i do this when i want to wear something basic but don’t want to look boring, (ie: tee and jeans). this one i got last year (you may remember it from this post). i love flannels and i think the best ones are slightly too big and very worn in, so i am hoping to thrift some this season rather than buying new. even at the low end, you’d pay probably 4 or 5 times what you could get one for at goodwill, but you’ll definitely sacrifice on quality.
tee – c/o tribe kelley; sunglasses – ray-ban; flannel – urban outfitters {similar here}; bag – madewell {similar here}; skirt – zara {similar here}; boots – jeffrey campbell; choker – vanessa mooney; necklace – lili claspe; bracelets – judith bright; rings – vintage
fyi – normally i’d wear the flannel a bit higher on my waist, along my natural waist or wherever the waistline of the bottoms are. this got tied a bit lower by mistake!
