casual layers

hi, friends!

y’all it’s already midway through january…i can’t believe it. the weather has really fluctuated over the past couple of weeks with snow and very chilly temperatures last week and balmy, rainy days this week. i shot this look a while back but it’s pretty timely because of the way i layered. i snagged this free people sweater vest after wanting it for quite a while. i love that it’s a longer tunic length and a v-neck, so you can really get creative with the ways you layered it. i knew i wanted to wear it over a turtleneck, so i brought out this trusty free people guy from last year. i was also inspired to make it suitable for work, so i threw in the faux leather mini, tights, and ankle boots for what i think is a pretty versatile look. add a coat and you’re ready for more typical winter weather. you could easily leave the top half alone and wear it over skinny jeans for something different, and i even think it will look cute in the spring or early summer with shorts (add a red bandana and you’re done, am i right?). sweater vests are a pretty underrated segment of the knitwear category because they’re typically associated with nerdy or preppy style, but i think this one is drapey and casual enough to be interesting. it also comes in several other good colors, for what it’s worth!
