hi, friends!
this week i’m showing off a little creative layering, featuring a t-shirt gifted to me by local brand tribe kelley. tribe kelley is owned by one-half of the country duo florida georgia line and his wife, and features cozy basics and not-so-basic pieces all made in the us. their clothes give me total campfire vibes, so i wanted to show off how perfect they are for fall. you’ll be seeing some more of their pieces in the next few weeks, but this tee was one of my favorites of the set because of how versatile it is. obviously, it would look great with leggings or skinny pants, but i wanted to get outside the box a little and wear it as a dress. when i saw it i knew instantly how i wanted to style it, so i brought out an old free people slip to wear under it and i love how it turned out!
to me, this is a great lesson in the borrowed-from-the-boys trend, which can be interpreted differently. for many that means loafers and tweed, but it can also be a men’s shirt dressed up with something feminine (think about that line from “man! i feel like a woman” by shania twain, “…men’s shirt, short skirt!” – it’s a pretty timeless idea). there’s something about wearing something belonging to your guy that feels intimate and safe, and i think that’s why we love stealing our boyfriends’ hoodies or tees. this is a sexy way to wear something belonging to your boyfriend or husband — in fact, he probably won’t mind you comandeering something from his closet if you style it this way!
hope y’all like it and i’m looking forward to sharing more of my tribe kelley pieces – i can’t thank them enough for sending me these items to style!
