life’s a happy song

hi, friends!

fashion month is underway and i think its influence seeped its way into this look.  the other day nashville got a good bit of snow and ice, and it basically shut everything down.  it was president’s day, so i already had the day off, and delaney and i decided to do an impromptu shoot in the snow!  this crazy muppet sweater had just arrived, and i’m excited to show you this look because it’s decidedly different from my typical bohemian-girly looks.  i definitely have a minimal tomboy side, too, and it came out to play.

round-eyed sunnies are trending right now, especially among the street style set.  while they definitely tend to invoke 1970’s bohemian style, they can also look really modern when paired with sleek, minimal separates (not that this sweater is minimal).  i chose these for this look because i thought they added a fun pop of color in a bit of an unexpected way.  i’m not always a huge fan of the color pop, because i feel like a lot of times it seems too predictable.  i tend to like my outfits to feel tonal, often times because i’m dressing to a particular mood.  but i think in this case the light blue looks awesome with red and the dark lipstick, so to me, it works.

sweaters are just about my favorite category of clothing, and this goofy muppet one is right up my alley.  as you know, i tend to like pieces that feel offbeat or even strange, and i’m not afraid to make a statement from time to time.  clothes are supposed to be fun, and i think too often we get bogged down in the stress of our day-to-day, and we end up taking everything about ourselves a little too seriously.  it’s fun to wear something that makes people smile or laugh, and you’ll find yourself giggling along with them.
