well, y’all might have heard that it’s officially summer! nashville has been brutally humid for the past couple of weeks, and i’ve been very lazy as a result. i am not fond of the heat; it makes me want to just sit around by the pool. my work schedule is also quite hectic, but after the fourth of july, it will quiet down. there’s nothing like nashville in the summer, though!
if you follow other bloggers and the seasonal trends, you’ll know that fringe skirts have been everywhere for the past several seasons. i’d been hunting for one for quite awhile before i scored this faux-suede version at zara. the price point was good and it’s actually a really nice imitation leather, so in my book it was a winner!

the whole idea behind this look was to let the fringe stand alone as the statement, so an easy v-neck was my go-to. it makes it a lot more casual and approachable for day. see why i preach having an arsenal of good basics? it’s not for my health, it’s because it’s important!
i’d also been hunting for these vince mules for ages when i finally got them on sale, and i’ve worn them a bunch since they got here. the nude color goes with everything and they make even a more basic outfit seem more “fashion.”
i picked up these sunnies at a new boutique in nashville called native + nomad located in hillsboro village. can’t find them online, but if you’re on the hunt for some fun shades go check them out – they had a variety of quay glasses!
style tip
most fashion blogs and magazines would advise you not to wear two or more trendy items together, and that’s a pretty good rule. however, i felt like the mules and fringe skirt worked really well together so i went ahead and did it. i don’t think i look like a fashion victim! also, i’m pretty sure mules are on their way to staple status.
