happy october, everybody! personally i can’t believe how quickly september went by. pretty soon the holiday season will be upon us, which means cooler temperatures, shopping for loved ones, and dressing for parties! fall is the best time of year for your style because now you can layer without feeling faint, and it essentially goes without saying that fall clothing is the best of all. ask any girl with an interest in fashion, and she will almost certainly say that fall is sartorially her favorite time of year! however, if you aren’t quite ready to give up your summery dresses, this outfit is a great example of how to transition them with fall accessories (and a sweater if it’s necessary!).
i recently wore this look to a party in town and i basically planned it around the boots. you probably remember me wearing these boots in taupe all last year, and this year i decided it was worth it to get the black ones as well. i’ve already worn them a bunch because i don’t have to worry about them as much. i know i’m going to get a ton of use out of them, and you should keep that in mind if you’re looking for a new pair of boots for the fall.
over-the-knee boots are huge this season, and many blogs are actually forecasting that you should stable your trusty riding boots for the time being. while i don’t necessarily believe in this-is-in-that-is-out dressing, trends are important because they are pervasive and will shape your aesthetic the more you see them. keep in mind that you will be seeing lots of celebrities and bloggers rocking statement over-the-knee boots, so it may make you want your own pair! you simply may feel less inclined to rock your more classic boots and be more drawn to a pair that comes up higher on your leg.
over-the-knee boots are a lot more flattering and easy to style than you may think, but a fool-proof combination is a mini-to-mid-thigh dress with your boots like i’m doing here. tights and/or socks make it cozier and more casual, but beware of boots with too-high of a heel. chunkier stacked heels feel more modern and down-to-earth than a stiletto (not to mention that they’re way more practical), so keep that in mind as well when you’re shopping.
