denim & leather

hi, friends!

well, here we are in october!  september flew by and the weather is still transitioning to fall here in music city, so i really have to get creative with my layering to stay comfortable.  some days are still as warm as the mid eighties, with mornings and evenings getting closer to the low sixties.  this is my favorite time of year because i get to wear my favorite jackets but still wear lightweight dresses and my eternal favorite, denim shorts.  i hope y’all like this transitional fall look that is, in my opinion, extremely nashville.  we love our denim and leather in nashville, and anything that is vintage or cowboy-inspired!

before i get to the photos, wanted to talk a little bit about why i’m still here blogging after 2 years.  i’ve had some thoughts swirling around in my head ever since an article ran on vogue.com where some international editors were lamenting bloggers — although really, i think they meant influencers.  some of the biggest fashion bloggers were vocalizing their reactions, and it got me thinking.  i found the editors’ comments to be relatively accurate, albeit a bit hypocritical.

i really started this blog not as a commercial place to sell you all products i don’t believe in, but as a place to express my creativity with clothes and fashion.  it’s personal style in that i’m styling myself in ways that i’m inspired to, whether it’s an accurate outfit of what i wear in my daily life, or something i’m putting together to tell a story.  i’m heavily inspired by music and the other visual arts, especially interior design. basically, i love beautiful things, and i love putting them together to create interesting spaces and outfits.  i’d love to turn this blog into a business somehow, but it’s still very much a hobby that i do simply because i enjoy it.  it’s a massive amount of work and time, and i make sacrifices for it — especially when it comes to my social life.  i try to be original, creative, and true to myself in everything i post on this blog and on my instagram, because i don’t believe in pretense or lying just to get ahead.  i’m not here to make you think i’m cool, i’m here to inspire you (hopefully).  as someone who works in the sales-oriented field of retail, i don’t think there’s anything morally wrong with making a dollar (i literally say this all the time), but i do think there’s something morally wrong with trying to make a dollar at the expense of your authentic self.

that’s all i have to say about that.  onto the clothes!
