hi, friends!
happy fourth of july, y’all! i’m sure many of you are looking forward to this holiday weekend and spending time with friends and family. i’ll be working as y’all know, but if i weren’t this outfit is what i’d be wearing to a backyard bbq.

independence day is one of my favorite holidays because a. fireworks and b. it’s laid back – you grill out, maybe lay by the pool, and just spend quality time with the ones you care about.  so, yes, it’s fun to dress in an “america” theme but i think red, white, and blue are a classic color palette that doesn’t have to look like you dressed for a college theme party.  so, this outfit presents my take on that philosophy.

i chose this amazing free people top with flyaway back because i thought the texture of the fabric and detailing was perfect.  the medium blue reminds me of denim, so i knew i’d want to wear it with a cute red bandana because i’ve been really into that color combination lately.  i added my white destroyed jeans but could’ve just as easily worn white cut-off shorts, and my go-to sandals.  a straw hat, great bag, and my favorite sunglasses and jewelry round out the look.  the great thing about this is that it’s perfect for the holiday, but wouldn’t look costumey if you wore it on a normal day.  to me, that’s win-win
